Debarati Basu, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Fundamentals within the College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Daytona Beach Campus. She earned her Ph.D. in Engineering Education from Virginia Tech and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science and Engineering. Her research is at the intersection of Engineering Education (EE) and Computing Education Research (CER) for enhancing individualized experiences, specifically focused on educational technologies including GenAI (for learning, engagement, self-directed learning), student-centered curriculum and pedagogy, and support systems for student success using primarily quantitative and mixed method research approaches. She teaches computing courses and is committed to translating engineering and computing education research into evidence-based instructional practices.
